Privacy policy
Your record is yours.
Office Wise is built so that the developer never receives your attendance record. This policy explains what that means in practice, for the app and for this website.
Effective
The short version
- There is no account, no server and no sign-in. Your office days, time off, schedule and policy are stored on your device.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and no third-party code at all. The developer receives none of your app data.
- Apple handles downloads, payments, Siri, Shortcuts and iCloud under its own privacy policy. Anything Apple shares with developers is limited to what you allow in your device settings.
- This website sets one language cookie, remembers your appearance choice in your browser, and is hosted by Cloudflare. If you use the support form, what you type is emailed to us so we can answer you, and is not stored on the website.
- Because we hold none of your app data, you delete it yourself: by deleting the app, and any backups you made.
1. Who we are
Office Wise (the “App”) and the website at officewise.app (the “Site”) are offered by Jafeth Garro, an individual developer based in Costa Rica (“we”, “us”, “the developer”). For anything in this policy, write to legal@officewise.app.
This policy covers the App and the Site. It does not cover Apple’s services, your employer’s systems, or any other service you choose to send your data to.
2. What the App stores, and where
To work, the App stores the information you enter:
- the days you record as office days, and how each was recorded (by you in the App, from the widget, or from Siri or Shortcuts);
- time off you enter (vacation, sick days, other leave) and company holidays;
- your work schedule, your attendance policy, your compliance period and their history over time;
- your planning preferences and constraints, and your App settings.
This information is stored only on your device, inside the App’s own storage and a storage area shared with the App’s widget. It is not sent to us or to any server we operate; we do not operate one. All calculations, recommendations and plans are computed on your device.
The App does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, employer, contacts or any account details, and it does not create an identifier for you.
3. What we do not collect
The App contains no analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting or tracking software, and no third-party code. We do not sell, rent, share or trade personal information, we do not build profiles, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Because the App never sends your data to us, we cannot see, access, recover, correct or delete it for you.
4. Apple and your device
Some things happen through Apple rather than through us. Apple processes that information under its own terms and the Apple Privacy Policy, and we do not control it:
- Downloads and purchases. The App Store handles downloads, payments, subscriptions and refunds. We never receive your payment details. Apple gives developers sales and download reports that do not identify you to us.
- App Store analytics and crash reports. If you turned on “Share with App Developers” in your device’s privacy settings, Apple may share with us aggregated usage statistics and crash reports. Apple states these do not identify you. You can turn this off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
- Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight and widgets. When you use the App through these features, iOS handles your request. The App receives only the action (for example, “record today”).
- iCloud Backup. If iCloud Backup is on, iOS includes the App’s data in your device backup, in your iCloud account, as it does for most apps. We cannot access your backups.
5. Exports and backups you make
You can export your record as a JSON backup or a CSV file, and restore a JSON backup. An export is a file you create and you decide where it goes: Files, iCloud Drive, email, another app, or your employer. Once a file leaves the App, the privacy of that copy depends on where you put it and who you share it with, and is your responsibility.
An export contains your attendance, time off, holidays and settings. It never contains a location coordinate.
6. Features that are not available yet
Some features are planned but are not in the App today. If and when they are released, they are designed to work as described below. If anything differs when a feature ships, we will update this policy before or when it does, and the feature will ask for your permission where iOS requires it.
iCloud sync
Optional and off by default. If you turn it on, your attendance, time off, holidays, settings and commute durations are stored in your own private iCloud database, which only you can read. We cannot read it. Workplace and home locations and workplace visits are never synced. Turning sync off stops syncing; it does not delete the copy already in your iCloud account, which you can remove in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Automatic attendance and commute timing (premium)
Only with your permission. The App would use your device’s location to notice when you arrive at and leave the workplace you set on a map, and how long your commute took. Location is processed on your device and is never sent to us or to any server. The App stores no location history, route or path: the only coordinates it stores are the workplace (and optionally home) you set yourself. It stores entry and exit times for recent workplace visits for a limited period (between 30 and 90 days, configurable) and commute start, arrival and duration. You can turn either feature off, erase this data, or revoke location access in iOS Settings at any time.
Calendar integration (premium)
Only with your permission and only for the calendars you select. Events are read on your device to suggest days you are unlikely to be in the office. Event titles, attendees and notes are never stored or sent anywhere.
Apple Intelligence
Where available, the App would use Apple’s on-device models to answer questions about your record. The model receives summaries (counts, dates, durations), never location coordinates. Apple processes this under its own terms.
Purchases
Premium purchases would be handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. The App checks with Apple whether you are entitled to premium features; we never receive your payment information or Apple ID.
7. This website
- Hosting. The Site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Language. When you open the home page, your browser’s language setting is used once to show English or Spanish. If you choose a language with the language link, the Site sets a cookie named
ow-langthat stores only “en” or “es”, for one year. It is strictly necessary to remember your choice and is not used for tracking. - Appearance. If you choose light or dark appearance, your browser stores that choice locally (
ow-theme). It never leaves your browser. - Analytics. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies, without fingerprinting, and without identifying individual visitors.
- Fonts and links. Fonts are served from the Site itself; no request goes to Google or other font services. Links to the App Store and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
The Site has no advertising and no social media trackers. Its only form is the support form, described in the next section.
8. When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to include (for example, your iPhone model, iOS version or an exported file).
If you use the support form on the Support page, we receive what you enter: the topic, your email address, your name if you give it, your iPhone model, your iOS version, the App version if you give it, your message and the language of the page. The form is sent to a small program on Cloudflare that checks it and emails it to us, using Cloudflare Email Routing. The website does not store it. On an iPhone, the form may fill in your iOS version from your browser; you can change it.
To keep the form free of spam, it uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which loads only when you start filling in the form. Turnstile checks signals from your browser to tell people from bots, under the Turnstile Privacy Addendum; Cloudflare says it does not use this to track you or for advertising. Your IP address is also used briefly to limit how many requests one connection can send; we do not store it. A form field hidden from people catches automated submissions.
We use what you send, by email or through the form, only to reply to you and to fix problems you report, and we keep it only as long as needed for that and for our own legal protection. Please do not send an export unless it is needed. Messages reach us through our email provider, which processes them on our behalf.
9. Legal bases
Where data protection law requires a legal basis (such as Costa Rica’s Law No. 8968 or the EU and UK GDPR), we rely on: your consent, for optional features such as location, calendar and iCloud sync, which you can withdraw at any time; our legitimate interests, for operating and securing the Site, protecting the support form from abuse, and answering your messages; and compliance with legal obligations, where they apply.
10. Retention and deletion
Your App data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual records in the App. Deleting the App deletes the data stored on that device. Copies you made yourself (device backups, iCloud data, exported files) remain until you delete them in the place where they are stored.
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore data we never had, so please keep a backup if your record matters to you.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority (in Costa Rica, PRODHAB). For App data, you exercise these rights directly on your device: everything is visible in the App, can be edited or deleted there, and can be exported at any time for free. For information we do hold, such as emails you sent us, write to legal@officewise.app and we will respond within the time the law requires. We may need to verify your request.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we do not use automated decision-making that produces legal effects about you.
12. Security
Your data is protected by the security of your device, including its passcode and the data protection built into iOS. Keep your device and your Apple ID secure, and keep iOS up to date. No method of storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your device, your backups or files you share, which are outside our control.
13. Children
The App and the Site are meant for working adults and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
14. International transfers
We are based in Costa Rica. Apple, Cloudflare and our email provider may process information in other countries, including the United States, under their own safeguards. App data you keep on your device is not transferred by us anywhere.
15. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the App or the Site changes how information is handled, and before any change that would send your data somewhere it is not sent today. The date at the top shows when the current version took effect. If a change is significant, we will also say so in the App or on the Site. Continuing to use the App or the Site after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies.
